[x] I always say hi to everyone. ( I have a story for you. One time, in crowded New York City, there was a man who had been hit hard by life's series of blows. Fired from his job after a silly mistake that should have been forgiven, he came home to find his wife cheating on him. Somehow, she took everything he had, including the custody of his children and his dog whom he'd had since his college days, before the wife. The next day, his mother died of a heart attack early in the morning. That day, he decided that perhaps it was time to kill himself. However, he believed that perhaps there was some sort of good left in the world, and debated with himself that entire day between death and life. He finally decided to leave it up to the city- the next day, he wandered the streets aimlessly: if someone would simply smile at him, acknowledge him, he would not commit suicide.

The whole day passed. As the sun set, the man was still wandering the streets. All day he had searched the crowded city streets for a kindly soul- and had only found homeless drunks, enraged drivers, and flustered housewives concerned only with the newest dress in the window. No one had smiled. No one had waved.

That night, he leapt from the roof of a tall building. The fall killed him instantly.

And that's why I smile at everyone- you never know when someone's life depends on it.)
